Delete your Guidamo account
This page explains how to delete your account in the Guidamo app (by sminevbuilds) and the data linked to it, with or without the app installed.
Without the app: email us
Send an email to contact@sminevbuilds.com from the email address you signed up with, with the subject "Delete my Guidamo account". We'll delete the account within 30 days and reply to confirm. If you write from a different address, we'll ask you to confirm from the signed-up one first, so nobody can delete someone else's account.
In the app
- Open Guidamo and go to Settings.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Your account is deleted immediately. By default the app also erases everything it stored on this phone; you can untick that if you want to keep it.
What gets deleted
- Your account: email address, password hash or Google profile details (name, profile picture link, Google account id), and sign-in sessions.
That's all we keep about you on our servers. Stories and audio are stored per place, not per person, and questions, voice recordings and photos you send to Ask are not saved after the answer.
If you signed in with Google, you can also remove Guidamo's access in your Google account.
What is kept, and for how long
- Today's usage counters (for the daily limits) are stored under a scrambled code made from your email address, never the address itself, and can't be turned back into it. They're deleted after the day ends (UTC), so deleting and re-creating an account doesn't reset the daily limits.
- Server security logs record each request with your account id (a random identifier, not your email), your IP address and, for place lookups, your position. They're deleted automatically after 30 days and used only to keep the service secure and working.
- Crash reports and app logs are tied to a random id created when the app was installed, never to your account, so we can't find them by account. They're deleted automatically after 30 days (logs) or up to 90 days (error reports).
Data on your phone
Your walks, passport, downloaded areas and settings live only on your phone. They're erased by the in-app deletion (unless you untick it), by clearing the app's data in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app. If Android backup is turned on, a copy of your walks, passport and settings is kept in your own Google account backup, which we can't access; you can delete it in your Google account's backup settings.
